My name is Loan and I’m a mom of two beautiful children – a growing boy who loves to swim and a little girl who's determined to visit every indoor playground in the world.
My idea for Mochi Active sprouted during the pandemic. My son was 6 and just switched to online schooling, which many of you are likely familiar with! Previously, his daily life consisted of going to school, playing at the playground with his best friends, and swimming on the weekends.
Suddenly, his active lifestyle was halted. His "new normal" was seeing his teacher and classmates on a laptop and playing games on his tablet until bedtime, hardly stepping foot outside.
Pajamas were his daily uniform. Personally, I discovered “athleisure” clothing for myself during these years at home. They’re comfortable to wear while working from home and easily transitioned to workouts in the backyard, all while looking super stylish!
Fast forward to the time we were able to safely explore the world again, my son outgrew all of his regular clothes in his closet. But he still loved his comfy pajamas and staying indoors because that was all he knew for a long time. It was hard to transition him back into his previously active lifestyle.
I wondered, “Why isn’t there any comfy activewear for kids, like there is for adults?” And that’s when I knew the world needed Mochi Active. I wanted my son to have clothes that were super comfortable to wear at school, while still encouraging his physical activity.
I started browsing endlessly online for inspiration, drawing our first designs, hand-picking fabrics and colors, and creating countless versions of clothes until we finalized our first collection. My son was the perfect model to test all of our clothing samples. Kids do not hold back on their opinion. If something is itchy, too tight, or simply not comfortable, he was the first to say something about it. With his valuable feedback and years of testing, fixing, and improving every single item, we’re finally ready to share Mochi Active with the world.
